Rebecca Smith started playing the Harp at the age of 12. Within six months ...
... she had already won the Harp Solo for the National Youth Eisteddfod. She went on to win numerous competitions, the Royal National Eisteddfod on more than one occasion and local and national music competitions.
Rebecca furthered her musical studies at the Royal College of Music, London, where she studied under Ieuan Jones and played the harp for all of the college orchestras, particularly enjoying the 20th Century Ensemble and the Opera Orchestra.
She became principal harpist of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and the Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and is currently principal harpist with the British Police Symphony Orchestra and Sidcup Symphony Orchestra, performing all over the UK and Europe in renowned venues such as Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Rebecca performs for many charity events including Leukaemia Research, Cancer Research, The Princes Jubilee Trust and Headway. As one half of flute and harp duo "Zxyros" she has appeared on TV's Designed by Emmanuel, performing a Mozart Concerto in Paris.
She is a regular at Police Federation functions, with the massed bands of Her Majesty's Guards and at private and corporate events across the country.
But Rebecca is equally at home performing to celebrities (Tom Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ruth Madoc to name but a few) and even royalty, with credits including Gala Events for The Princes Trust, in the presence of HRH Prince Charles, and the Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.
